With the present it is our pleasure to introduce the movable Bulb turbine – an innovative concept including technologies of most recent generation, which outstands with an extremely high effectiveness in generating basic energy, environment-friendliness and low investment costs in the construction phase.
The movable Bulb-turbine is movable entirely submerged equipment that consists of a double regulated Kaplan Bulb-turbine working on low head pressure, a permanent magnet generator, a trash-rack cleaning system, oil and hydraulic systems, industrially integrated in a standardized corpus, made of steel and concrete.

The development of the technology is supported by the EU funding instrument for development of innovations and integration of techniques and methods related to the future development of “LIFE” Programme, the EU Community policy for environmental protection.
The hydropower plants with installed movable Bulb-turbine differ with a simple construction, easy installation, high efficiency, long-term exploitation and multiple ecological benefits. This type of turbines is specially designed for low and middle heads (2,00 – 10,00 m), finding application mostly in the construction of river-bed hydropower plants.
Main benefits of the technology:
- The generator is with permanent magnets, directly connected to the turbine which results in values of the coefficient of efficiency exceeding 95%;
- Thanks to the submerged construction and depending on the river flows, an increase in the energy production up to 25% can be reached in comparison to the conventional concepts;
- The submerged construction allows transition of high water quantities through the hydropower plant without any risk of damage to the equipment;
- The specifics of the production unit excludes the necessity of powerhouse construction, which leads to a significant reduce of the investment costs in the construction phase and shorter construction time;
Extremely high level of nature protection – the construction of the plant allows transition of bottom and floating sediments, an entire transition of the fish and shoal, without any negative impacts on the natural functions of the river habitats.
